BlackboardView collects no personal data and no student data. Your lesson content stays on your device — the only network activity the app ever makes is loading a web page you yourself linked to and tapped, shown on your iPad and your external display.
What We Collect
Nothing. BlackboardView does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information. The app has no user accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no advertising SDK.
Your Lesson Content
Lesson files you import are read directly from your device's file system. BlackboardView uses a security-scoped bookmark so it can write your session's additions back to that same file later — including across app relaunches — but the file itself is never copied, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere. It remains entirely under your control.
Links You Add to Your Notes
If you type a web address into your own notes and tap it during a session, BlackboardView loads that page in an embedded browser view — shown full-screen on the connected external display, and on your iPad so you can interact with it directly. That's a direct request to whatever site the link points to, subject to that site's own privacy practices — the same as opening the link in any browser. This only happens when you tap a link you added yourself; BlackboardView never loads or contacts any page on its own.
External Display
Projecting to an external screen over HDMI or AirPlay/Screen Mirroring happens over a direct cable or your local network. Nothing about your lesson, your notes, or your teaching session is sent to Chris Dailey or any third party as part of this.
Settings and Preferences
App preferences (font sizes, color mode, etc.) are stored locally on your device using iOS's standard UserDefaults mechanism. They are not synced, shared, or transmitted anywhere.
Student Data
BlackboardView is a tool for the teacher operating the iPad. It has no student-facing accounts, forms, or data entry of any kind, and collects nothing about the students in the room.
Third-Party Services
BlackboardView uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
This Website
This policy describes the BlackboardView app. The website it lives on is separate: other pages embed a HelpScout Beacon widget (the "Help" button) so you can reach support directly from the site. This page does not load that widget. Where it does appear, loading it lets HelpScout set its own cookies and see standard visitor information (e.g. IP address, browser) in order to run the widget and any conversation you start through it — governed by HelpScout's privacy policy, not this one.
Children's Privacy
BlackboardView collects no data from anyone, including children, and is not directed at children as end users — it's a professional tool operated by the teacher.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in a future version of the app, the updated policy will be posted at this URL and the effective date above will be updated. Changes will only ever result from new features that are explicitly opt-in.
